TEDDI ANN BARRY

Family Law Attorney & Mediator

Author & nationally recognized blogger on Family Law matters

Negotiating and managing complex, multi-million dollar marital estates

What should your clients know about you?

I know firsthand the intense emotions of divorce with young children, a business, and significant properties. We completed our divorce in the 91 days of Colorado mandates. If I did it so can you!

I’m convinced we can’t keep letting broken families suffer through a broken system; by working diligently to help clients through disclosures and settlement offers, we do the very best we can to help our clients through their legal matters in the most time-efficient and cost-effective way possible.

What do you enjoy most about working at Divorce In Colorado?

I enjoy the tribe we’re building to serve others. With friendships and working relationships extending from 42 years to 2 years, having such a fantastic work “family” makes helping others through an often difficult time more manageable.

What do you believe to be the most important skill in your work?

As a business owner, my ability to lead and mentor is most important. Our tribe has a clear understanding of our mission to serve others and how we can best help our clients in the most cost-effective and time-efficient way possible.

As the attorney & mediator, my communication skills are the most important. Knowing how to speak with clients and opposing parties can make difficult conversations easier, progress faster, and more comprehensive agreements better.

What is the best advice you can give someone getting Divorced?

Get out together – then move on. When you cannot separate the emotional toll of divorce from the logistics of dividing assets and debts and determining a parenting plan that is best for the children, you will save money and time and come out of the divorce with better agreements, finality, and closure. Get In ~ Get Out ~ Get Over It.

What should your clients know about you?

I find value in empowering my clients to figure out the best way to move forward and create a better future for themselves and their children. Your goals are my goals, and I customize my services to meet your needs. Whether you want some questions answered or want me to take the reins through the entire process, I thrive on ensuring I am meeting my client’s exact needs.

What do you enjoy most about working at Divorce In Colorado?

We have an incredible team and dynamic brain trust. Being able to draw on and learn from each other’s experiences is so fulfilling powerful and ensures we can meet our clients’ needs every step of the way.

What do you believe to be the most important skill in the work that you do?

Listening to clients’ stories is one of the most important things I do at Divorce In Colorado. Listening and understanding a client’s story is the gateway to helping them resolve the remainder of their case to best suit their needs and to set them up for a successful future. Understanding a client’s story and background helps me to appreciate their goals for a divorce or child custody dispute.

What do you believe to be the most important skill in the work that you do?

My approach to representation is extremely flexible. I don’t practice in one way but in the way that best suits my clients’ needs. In this way, I can provide effective, efficient, cost-effective representation to each unique client.

What is the best advice you can give someone getting Divorced?

Think about what you want and what you want your future to look like. Then think about how you can make that happen while acknowledging your spouse and/or child(ren) ‘s needs. Having a holistic, long-term view helps keep your eye on your prize and not get too bogged down in the process. The process is complex, and even when everyone is amicable, it will go sideways at some point. Just keep moving forward and know that you will come out better on the other side.
